E-shop

Ekdoseis Stigmi Publishing House

A full Shopify e-shop with the catalog structured around the publisher's book series, and a custom system that links books to the people behind them and their roles.

Project Overview & My Role

Ekdoseis Stigmi is one of the most historic literary publishers in Greece, with over 40 years of operation and around 500 titles. They needed an e-shop worthy of that tradition. One that presents the catalog properly, highlights the work of authors and translators, and works flawlessly on every device.

I handled the full design and development of the e-shop on Shopify. From the catalog structure and content architecture, to building the pages, connecting the shipping channels, and solving the technical issues of the theme.

The challenge

The catalog had to be organized the way the publisher itself thinks, by book series, not by generic categories.

A book does not have only an author. It has a translator, an editor, a commentator, an introducer. All of these roles had to be visible and linked to one another.

The Horizon theme had technical issues that broke the experience, such as flicker in the mega menu and freezing in the in-app browser.

The solution

I organized the catalog by book series. Each series has its own page, while the homepage presents the series with selected books and an easy path to the full catalog.

I built a people system that connects books and contributors. Every author, translator, or editor has their own page with a biography and their books, while each book shows the person's role beneath it. The links are bidirectional, so the visitor moves freely from the book to the person and back.

Each book page shows all the publishing details: contributors, series and series number, pages, dimensions, year of publication, and ISBN. Many of these are clickable and lead to the relevant pages.

I connected the store with Box Now and courier for shipping, added customer accounts and search, and solved the theme's technical problems with custom code where configuration was not enough.

The result

A complete, functional e-shop that honors the publisher's identity. The catalog is structured with a publisher's logic, the people and their roles are properly highlighted, and the experience is stable on every device and channel.
